RICHLAND VETERINARY ASSOCIATES
AUGUST 20, 2026
Due to the large amount of staff members’ time involved in reviewing, processing or denying the hight volume of fax, email and phone traffic we receive from outside online retailers, we will be implementing a nominal “service charge” per prescription fee effective immediately. This fee has been implemented to allow our doctors and staff the adequate time and resources necessary to ensure that your pet is obtaining the correct medications at the correct dosages in a timely manner. This fee will be for all future online orders. This fee will also be implemented for written prescriptions (or food) on any medications that we carry in our office.
Many online pharmacies unfortunately have your pets information incorrectly listed and at times do not carry quality products. The health of our valued patients and your beloved pet is what is most important and we want to ensure that your pet received the proper medications when we are not able to directly oversee the dispensing process.
While we know these changes may take some time to adjust to, we feel it will benefit our patient care in the long run as it will allow our team the time necessary to focus on the patients and lead to fewer medication/food mistakes from those outside pharmacies.
For your convenience, we do have our online pharmacy that you can shop from 24/7 and have medications/food delivered right to our door with out our processing fee. This site is monitored daily and prescriptions are approved in at timely manner. You can visit Richlandvet.com and go to the prescription tab to order.
PEACE OF MIND WITH IN-HOUSE AND OUR ONLINE PHARMACY:
*Knowledge of the correct medications and dosages.
*Handling of medications: Medications obtained by our clinic have been shipped and stored according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Medications and food sold in our office or on our online pharmacy meet all the requirements of the FDA and are purchased from authorized distributors. They are backed by the manufacturer and by us.
*Safety Issues: some medications and food should not be taken while on or with other medications or food. We can be sure any combination of medications will be safe for your pet because we know your pet’s medical history.
*Monitoring your pet: some mediations for chronic illnesses require routine monitoring and subsequent adjustments to drug dosages. We monitor this and make sure your pet has any follow-up needed as you call for refills. We can answer questions, give instructions, and demonstrate how to give your pet the medication.
Thank you for understanding. If you have any questions please feel free to contact our office and team member will be happy to assist you!
Thank you,
Staff of RVA
